We know the path to becoming a parent can be a winding and complicated one. Whether it’s deciphering ovulation charts, injecting yourself with hormone medications, using a donor or surrogate, or planning for adoption – the reality is there isn’t one path to motherhood, and that’s okay. This past month we dived into the different routes people have taken to become parents or preserve their ability to do so. Hosted by our leading physician, Meredith Brower, we were joined by ABC’s The Rookie actress Camille Guaty-Kaye.
Needless to say, Mother’s Day can be challenging when you are struggling with infertility, but the truth is most days are challenging when you are struggling with infertility. Dealing with infertility is isolating. Most women suffer alone. If you are struggling with infertility, you probably feel as though your body has betrayed you, not being able to execute its most basic human function.
We got married on March 23, 2018, and immediately started trying to conceive. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would struggle with creating life. We both were incredibly healthy, and never did we think we were that “1 in 8.” That happens to other people, not us…right? Well, we were wrong – we tried to conceive naturally for a year.
Our CEO and founder Gina Bartasi’s journey — she’s a mom of twin seven-year-old boys that she had through IVF; her twin sister has twin 14-year-old girls through IVF; her husband’s twin brother has 8-year-old twins via IVF. Gina has been quoted to say, “the growth in the fertility industry is a direct ramification of macro-economic trends as more and more women wait to get married and wait to have children.” A statistic that rings true today.
